The ski/snowboard trip Feb 17 & 18

Hello!

The ski/snowboarding trip is on! We've had a really good
response, so we are going to put it together. Many people said
that they would be interested in an overnight trip, so that's
what we are going to do.

So, ASK Now and ETO are basically going to act as the organizers
of the event. As much as we would like to be the financers
of the event, that unfortunately won't be the case.

We will give a breakdown of what we are expecting to do, and
what you should budget for the trip.

Here goes:

First, we've reserved 41 beds at Yongpyong Ski Resort for the weekend
of February 17th and 18th. This is the Lunar New Year weekend, and
everyone should have Monday off, which is good because you can have an
extra day to recover after the trip.

The location is at the Youth Hostel and it's right on the resort. We have
a big 20 person room, and three 7 person rooms. It's not luxury, but
it's on the resort, and should be pretty comfortable. It may be bunks or
Korean style blankets piled on the floor.

The costs:

We are budgeting 25,000 won per person to cover the cost of the rooms
and for a meal and drinks together on Saturday night.

Other costs (depending on your usage):

Lift tickets (regular price, we should be able to find better):
Regular lift:
Full Day 59,000
Half Day 47,000
Night Ski 34,000

Gondola:
Full Day 66,000
Half Day 54,000

Rentals at hill:

Skis: 26,000/full day 22,000 half day
Snowboard: 34,000/full day 27,000 half day

(Clothes rental for those who need them, but you could probably do better
buying something at a local market or E-Mart)
Jacket & Pants
Jacket or Pants
Daytime
(Morning+Afternoon)
25,000
15,000

Morning/Afternoon/Evening/Night
15,000
10,000

Daytime+Evening
30,000
20,000

2day
45,000

The cost to get to the hill will be dependant on where you are coming
from, but it should be somewhere between 10,000-25,000won. We'll get
more details for people who are coming from specific locations.

For those in the Seoul area, we can try to organize a common meeting place
for a bunch of people to take the bus together. For Eric and others coming
from Gwangju, we can try to get you guys organized together as well.

Basically, we'll see who is coming from where, and try to get people
coordinated.

We are looking at leaving Saturday morning, skiing/boarding Saturday,
having dinner together, and then perhaps apres-ski party in one of the
rooms.

I think it should be an amazing time for anyone who decided to come. We
only have 41 spaces for people to sleep over, so please sign up right away
if you want to be in.

A lot of people have asked if it's ok if they bring non-clients...yes,
again, just make sure to have them sign up right away as well. We will
also be requesting the 25,000 in advance so we can book the rooms, and so
we will know that people are sure about going. Details to follow on that.

For those who can't make it Saturday, or who want to save some money, or
who don't want to stay overnight, I would suggest doing a one-day Sunday
trip. You can take the tour bus out there, meet up with us in the morning,
ride together, and just spend the day. We will provide contact numbers
for anyone who wants to do that. Just get in touch with me at my email
address, my name at asknow.ca

So, if you need more details, please email me. If you are in, sign up at
http://www.asknow.ca/ski.aspx

Do it quick if you want to have a seat! (if we get a lot of people who want
to go, and it's over the 41, we'll try to arrange other rooms if possible,
but can't guarantee that it will be this cheap)
